Dave’s Race 5th Gen at VIR in Alton, VA

July 4, 2023 - We are beyond grateful for an amazing weekend at VIRginia International Raceway that brought about a lot of family, friends and fun in honor of Dave!  It meant so much to him, and to all of us, so thank you to everyone who came out!!  In addition to having a lot of fun, what an amazing job everyone did helping to create a lot of hope as we raised just over our goal of $250,000, a new single event record!!  That money will go 100% to ALS-TDI, Duke Neurology, and our 2 Patient Assistance Funds!!  To anyone who didn’t get to join us, if you want to help us push even more beyond the $250,000 raised, visit here to donate - https://www.mightycause.com/event/5thgen

A huge thank you to Glynnis Murray of ALS-TDI, our race partner for and a beneficiary of this event, for making the trip from California to be onsite, answer questions and give a lot of hugs!!

Thank you to our keynote speaker Dr. Richard Bedlack, Professor of Neurology for Duke University, Faculty Network Member of the Duke Institute for Brain Sciences, and Associate of the Duke Initiative for Science & Society for inspiring our crowd with your passion and hope to find a cure.  It was truly amazing to hear what you and your team are doing every day to help #endals!

Thank you to the Racing for ALS team

This event doesn’t happen without an amazing team of people working together.  There are so many people who take part in these events, but we would like to really give a huge shoutout to:

Rob Wilmoth of Faster Skunk Racing, our Director of Ontrack Operations, who worked to class every driver, answer questions, give safety briefings, etc. and helped us have a really smooth event!  Marian Bradley, our Director of Philanthropic Events, who has done an amazing job with our logistics, signage, food, event planning, etc.; it has been amazing to have someone that makes everything so much easier for all around her with all that she does!  And to my wife Marya and our two children for putting in A LOT of work on our driver’s packets and merch, setting up and running our auction, working the registration area with Marian, etc., to make sure that everything was as perfect as we could make it for our Dave’s Race participants.  I love you very much and thank you for your support of Dave, me and our entire Racing for ALS family!

Thanks to Regina Arndt of Gunn’s Fitness for your efforts on the Burpee-A-Thon that raised over $30,000 and put you in the top fundraising spot, and to Sean and Becky of S3 Crossfit for hosting the event and helping us bring in so many participants!

Thanks to Southern Integrity Auto Transport for hauling in our cars so that our 5th Gen Camaro that started this all could be there for Dave’s Race 5th Gen for parade laps, and for offering support in the paddock.

Thanks to Apex Racing Labs for operating your amazing iSim rig at the event to help generate fun for all and funds for the #endals cause!

Thank you again to Stephen Miller of the SCCA for putting on another phenomenal dinner after cooking all day on Friday.

Thank you to Tradd’s Photos for doing an amazing job once again with photos for everyone (Emails with a link will be coming soon, once he is done with the pictures that take a while as there are a lot to sort through).

Thanks again to our track angel Danny Wright who got us on at VIR 5 years ago and has been a huge support ever since, to Brian Warner of VIR for helping us secure our date each year, to Mitchell of the VIR Club and to all of the track workers that make this event possible.  Thanks to Bruce Frenzel of Kaizen for getting some folks on track for an amazing first experience, and helping one of our veterans out when they had car issues; you have been a great partner over the last two years.

Thanks to Paul Weeks of Bad Medicine Racing who adjusted his work trip to fly back from Belgium to be with us; the Wilders, our event leads for our California races for making the trip; and for all of you who made the drive from several states away (Mississippi, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, etc.); it meant a lot to us!
